Like the person who wrote that blog, I first became aware of Glen via The Commitments, although from thereon our paths diverged slightly. I listened to and loved the music of the Swell Season, starting with 'Strict joy'1 then moving backwards to the soundtrack of the film 'Once'2 and then even further to the eponymous 'Swell Season' disc. I also have some of his solo works, although I don't like them as much as the SS material.
For some reason, quite often songs of the Swell Season play through my swimming headphones; these tracks are chosen at random, so it's curious that they get so much attention.
As I was telling my wife the news, the radio was playing "Falling slowly". Coincidence? After the song ended, the DJ gave a short obituary that sounded as if it was taken directly from Glen's Wikipedia page.
