Rapallo log 5 - Monterosso

Today we returned to Monterosso, one of the Cinque Terra villages; we last visited there in 20151.  Many things have changed in the intervening ten years: the beach in front of the train station used to be empty, but now it was full of sunbeds; then it wasn't particularly crowded but today it was. Some of these changes may be because last time we visited in May, which is off-season. Anyway, we arrived at 11 am; many people got off our train (probably from Genova) to join the heaving packs of people who had already arrived.

To be honest, I didn't enjoy myself very much today - probably because of the crowds. There was yet another market set up just below the train station, and my wife bought some presents there for our grandchildren.

We caught the 2:55 pm train back to Rapallo - this was yet another inter-city train for which I had to enter my name and email in order to buy a ticket. I discovered when I returned to the hotel that emails had been sent to my account regarding the tickets. At least I didn't have any of the problems that I had in 2015 when trying to buy the train tickets.
